We Came To Seek a Void is building what they call 'The Personal Internet'. Art websites that create individual experiences designed to elicit an emotional or intellectual response. Online, so always available and accessible.

History

We Came to Seek a Void is a collaboration between Bas Huissen en David Beijersbergen van Henegouwen. Started in 2014 after working together at the same design studio. What started with one idea for an online artwork, became the basis for an intense collaboration. At the moment they have developed more than 20 online pieces.

Theme

Their work blends visuals, sound and interaction. With themes that touch on the properties of the medium ‘internet’; copyright, originality, authenticity, privacy, artificial intelligence and the active role of the user. The visitor is no longer a spectator, but needs to act to experience the work. Inspiration is found in the pop culture of today and before. The title of the work is also the web address where the work can be seen. Hints on the meaning of the work are given in the source code.

Bio's

Bas Huissen Prefers to interact on one or all intersections of design, art and music. Works as a designer in Amsterdam and lives in Utrecht.

David Beijersbergen van Henegouwen Is a designer who focuses on the internet. After the study Digital Media Design, in 2014 at the HKU, he works for different online design studio’s. At the moment het works and lives in Utrecht.
